Along coral reefs and coastal roads on Australia’s east coast

Australia felt sunny, relaxed and free from the very first moment. When we arrived in Cairns and stepped into the warm air, we knew this would be a journey filled with nature and adventure.

Our first big experience was a snorkeling trip at the Great Barrier Reef. The moment we entered the water, we were surrounded by colorful fish, coral in every shape imaginable and even a curious turtle gliding past us. Our guide explained that the reef is alive — and you could feel that in every detail. It was like diving into another world.

From Cairns, we drove our campervan down the coast to Airlie Beach. Along the way, we stopped at small, quiet beaches where we were completely alone. The sound of the waves, the scent of eucalyptus and the warmth of the sun made us feel deeply at peace. In Airlie Beach, we joined a sailing trip to the Whitsundays, where Whitehaven Beach left us speechless. The sand was so white it almost glowed.

Further south, we explored the rainforest of Noosa National Park. While walking along the coastal tracks, we spotted a koala sleeping high in a tree. It was such a pure and unexpected moment that we stood there watching for minutes.

Our journey ended in Sydney, where the Harbour Bridge and Opera House lit up in the evening sun. We enjoyed fish & chips by the water and watched surfers ride the waves until late in the evening. It felt like the city and nature blended seamlessly here.

Australia surprised us with its freedom, nature and friendly people. Thanks to Wanderly Travel, we were able to experience this journey in a way that felt personal, relaxed and unforgettable.
