Along turquoise lakes and mountain peaks in the Rockies
Canada felt vast and untouched from the very first moment. As we drove out of Calgary and saw the mountains of Banff National Park rising in the distance, we knew this would be a journey we’d never forget.
Our first stop was Lake Louise. The water was so turquoise it almost didn’t seem real. We walked along the shoreline while the mountains reflected perfectly in the still water. A local ranger told us the lake gets its color from glacial rock flour — tiny particles carried by meltwater. It made the place feel even more special.
The Icefields Parkway was a highlight in itself. The road wound past glaciers, waterfalls and valleys that looked like scenes from a nature documentary. Along the way, we spotted a black bear strolling calmly near the forest edge. We kept a safe distance, but the moment felt magical — as if nature allowed us a brief glimpse into her world.
In Jasper, we took a boat trip on Maligne Lake to Spirit Island. The silence there felt almost sacred. Only the soft sound of water and wind filled the air. We sat on a rock, surrounded by mountains millions of years old, and felt a deep sense of peace.
We ended our journey in Yoho National Park, visiting the powerful Takakkaw Falls. The water thundered down the cliff, creating rainbows in the mist. We met a Canadian family who invited us to share marshmallows by their campfire. Their kindness made the trip even warmer.
Canada touched us with its space, silence and nature. Thanks to Wanderly Travel, we were able to explore this breathtaking country in a way that felt personal, adventurous and unforgettable.
